Course History
Since 1989
Our cross country course was originally designed and built in 1989 in preparation for the Essex Hunt North Pony Club to host the inter-branch Gosling Cup competition.
In the years that followed, the course was vastly improved and expanded, to the extent where, in 1992 we were able to host our first Novice Affiliated Horse Trials and, in 1993, our first Intermediated Affiliated Horse Trials.
The Farm
Conservation Farming
Berwick Farm is an arable farm, growing crops such as wheat and barley for the UK’s food chain.
Until 2019, Berwick had been farmed by the Pearl Family for over a century, originally as part of the Suttons Estate. Berwick Farm is now part of Hayleys Farms.
Hayleys Farms use conservation focused farming techniques, working to farm in harmony with wildlife and the environment. Learn more here.
